Oroddho Foundation has a simple aim – to accelerate conversation on sexual crimes and gender discrimination and play a part in shaping the next generation’s perceptions. Perceptions create practices, and practices create culture; and we believe our culture needs to incorporate more values in order to ensure gender equality and safety for everyone. This can only come through discussions on consent, sensitivity toward victims, destroying toxic gender roles, creating interpersonal relationships, spreading sex education, etc. We will be addressing such topics through workshops.

The law that criminalizes rape in Bangladesh, entered into the penal code of Bangladesh in 1860 and followed to this day, does not clearly describe the word “consent”. Therefore it should come as no surprise that people are unclear on this law. We wish to address this problem by educating the youth of the future understand it better.

Project Bhor

Project Bhor is our initiative in schools that teaches Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and other important topics like consent, healthy interpersonal relationships, toxic gender roles, sensitivity training and a lot more! We started this project more than a year ago with the hope that, rather than taking action after gender-based violence occurs, Bangladesh can raise a new generation who is not violent. Our belief in proactive work motivates us to focus on education and discussion so that we can end violence at the root.
